The Indiana HIMSS Board of Directors created the Charles Christian Indiana HIMSS Leadership Award and presented this inaugural award to Chuck Christian himself during the Midwest HIMSS Fall Technology Conferrence President's Dinner. Chuck was our keynote speaker for this dinner and talked about Coaching and Leadership. The award was a surprise for Chuck and rendered him speechless, which for those of you who know Chuck, does not happen very often!
Ivy Tech Community College a partner with the
Midwest Community College Consortium
Ivy Tech Community College is proud to announce our formalized partnership with the Midwest Community College Consortium to offer training in six roles related to the implementation and optimization of electronic medical records. We are now one of 18 Community Colleges training individuals in curriculum created by five highly regarded Universities located across the United States. Individuals with either a healthcare or Information Technology background now have an opportunity to bridge the knowledge gap between the two. These six-month and mostly (about 90%) online programs are intense, but will make successful completers invaluable as healthcare providers continue to implement and optimize electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Training is available in the following six workforce roles:
-
Practice Workflow and Information Management Redesign Specialists
-
Clinicians/Practitioner Specialists
-
Implementation Support Specialists
-
Implementation Managers
-
Technical/Software Support Staff
-
Trainers
New cohorts will begin, monthly, on a rolling basis. More information is available on our website www.ivytech.edu/hit-training. All applicants are screened in order to substantiate their experience in either IT or healthcare, and a background check is required. Potential students should complete the application also linked on the website, in order to allow plenty of time for screening.
Opportunities for healthcare employers include the following:
-
Upgrade the skills of existing employees
-
A qualified talent pool to hire from, reducing the need for high paid consultants
-
Ability to post link on the multi-state Consortium website to raise your profile as a perspective employer (Interested employers should contact me directly by email or at the phone number below)
-
Ability to speak to Indiana students about job opportunities in this field, and possibly within your organization (Interested employers should contact Teresa Hess at thess@ivytech.eduor 317-916-7897.
Ivy Tech appreciates the support of Indiana businesses to offer both high quality degree programs, and short term training programs as highlighted in this email. We look forward to the opportunity to train one or all of your employees!
